Dockerized Microservices in Microsoft Azure

Microsoft has fallen in love with Docker containers. Docker support is added to many existing services and new services dedicated to containers are added rapidly. In this session, long-time Azure MVP Rainer Stropek will bring a demo microservice (cross-platform RESTful web api in .NET Core; programming language not relevant for this workshop). During the workshop, we will explore different options for building and running this microservice in Docker containers. We focus on PaaS- and Serverless-offerings including Azure Container Registry, Azure App Service, Azure Container Instances and Azure Kubernetes Service. Additionally, Rainer will demonstrate how to automate CI/CD processes using Azure DevOps.

Rainer assumes that you have basic knowledge about Docker and Kubernetes. You do not need to be an expert in these technologies but you should have basic understanding of fundamentals like Dockerfiles, Docker Compose and Kubernetes Resource YAML files. If you want to follow along the demos, make sure to bring an Azure subscription in which you have administrative priviledges.
